Local intent changes the question
Customers searching for a dentist, lawyer, contractor, restaurant, or retailer usually need an option that serves a specific place. A local visibility test should include the intended city, metro, or region in every question where geography affects the answer.
The submitted Area Coverage is a valuable first-party input because it states the market the business wants tested. Website Intelligence can validate and enrich that context. Broad labels such as ‘United States’ or franchise-wide territory should not silently replace a clear local market.
Service details create distinct local conversations
A customer does not always ask only for the ‘best company.’ They may ask who handles a specific service, solves a particular problem, has strong reviews, offers good value, or specializes in a use case. Those questions reveal where a local business has strong visibility and where competitors own the conversation.
Form descriptions matter. If a fence company serves customers who need pet safety, privacy, or pool security, those use cases can support more realistic questions than a generic category label alone.
Location evidence should be consistent
Use consistent addresses, service-area descriptions, business names, and contact details across the website and verified profiles. A location page should clearly state which services are available in that market. Avoid creating location pages that contain no market-specific information.
For regional areas such as West Michigan, the site can name important cities while keeping the broader region clear. The audit’s provider location metadata should not contradict the market named in the question.
Interpret local results conservatively
Local answers can vary with the location context available to the provider. A result observed through an API may differ from a consumer session with saved location, personalization, or conversation history. A good report discloses that limitation.
Use the results to identify patterns and content gaps, not to claim a permanent local ranking. Repeat the benchmark after meaningful updates and preserve each historical version.
